Shawl collar cardigan in thick knit merino lamb wool from the prestigious Zegna Baruffa house.

Incredibly soft and lightweight, it envelops you in a cocoon and keeps you at the perfect temperature. The dense knit ensures superior shape retention and durability. Features genuine mother-of-pearl buttons.

This cardigan is quite thick yet extremely light and soft. You'll feel like you're in a cloud: enveloped and always just the right amount of warm. It's knitted with amerino woolExceptional lambskin with long fibers. Zegna Baruffa's superloong baby merino wool.

To minimize stretching, the cardigan is tightly knitted, giving it a dense feel. The shawl collar can be opened more or less to widen the lapels. The buttons are made of mother-of-pearl.

Origin of the nameThe cardigan is said to have been invented during the first half of the 19th century by James Thomas Brudenell, Earl of Cardigan (Wales). A military man, feeling constricted in his regulation sweater, he is said to have slit it open from collar to waist with a single blow of his saber. Originally, it had no sleeves and resembled a waistcoat, except that it always had small pockets. Having become a staple in the wardrobes of the nobility, the cardigan was paired with the tailored suit in the 1920s by Coco Chanel.
